I would not recommend CleanMyMac at all!

Today, after I chose the “Free Memory” option from CleanMyMac3’s pull down menu, the Macbook has started behaving very erratically. There is no way to control mouse-pad and the mouse anymore! It creates new folders when left alone, even after I un-installed the software! The problem has not cleared even after I reset the SMC. The computer was running fine BEFORE I chose that option on CleanMyMac3 !

I had installed CleanMyMac after a disappointing recent visit to Apple store where they could not really diagnose the problem with the slow Macbook pro (mid 2012, 2.5GHZ w 4gig of RAM). They re-installed the OS (another one of their wild guesses to cure the slow mac) and wiped the Macbook clean.

CleanMyMac ended up recommending more memory which is where I was headed before the Genius at the Apple Store insisted it’s either Hard Disk (I/O) or the hard disk cable that could be the cause.

I might have to visit the Apple Store one more time to have them wipe the machine one more time after installing more memory. But I will stay away from CleanMyMac for sure.
