Create EPIC, eye-catching, informative posts
Blogging has become increasingly popular and if you want YOUR blog to stand out from the rest you need to be providing information that your competition isn't. This means you post should be at least 2,000 words long and ideally, it should answer a problem. Let's face it - there will always be problems which people encounter and most of the time, people are looking for solutions to these problems. Say your blog is about parenting. You could write a post about the challenges of working online when you are looking after small children. Don't just talk about it but provide a solution to this problem...for eg: you could say that you created a timetable to help you schedule your day better. When the kids are napping you can get a couple of hours of work done now because everything is on a schedule...........get the idea? Always give a solution.
Another big tip is to make sure the title of your post makes people want to read. A good way of creating people's attention is to give specific time frames etc: Here is an example again if your blog was on parenting: 'How I wrote a 50 page e-book in just 2 days !' That sort of headline has a measurable element which tends to work better with readers.
Images and colour are also a great way of someone noticing your post.
Promoting Your Post
This is where the fun begins! It doesn't matter how good your post is, you need to promote it otherwise no one will know about it. If you do not have many visitors to your blog yet then you need to do more than just submit a post to your blog and sit back and hope someone reads it! You should spend about 20% of your time writing a post and 80% promoting it.
You need to get it out there! Here are some ways:
Slidesharing sites - Take the main points of your blog, turn it into a powerpoint presentation and post to sites such as SlideShare and SlideBoom.
Make an audio recording of your blog - (you can use software such as audacity) and post your audio blog on places such as soundcloud and stitcher radio
Use recording platform such as camtasia and add audio to your powerpoint slides, than upload your video to you tube. Make sure to add a link to your powerpoint slides which sends the reader back to your blog.
